Good strategy. I've never purchased a brand new vehicle and probably...

...never will. I currently own three vehicles (one is basically a dedicated work truck), and their combined age is 44 years. Maintenance is starting to get a little bit cumbersome, but since I do most of it myself, the cost of the ownership is far less than a payment on a newer vehicle.

Enjoy the new wheels! Sound like you made a good purchase. I have no experience with hybrids, but will probably consider them when we replace the "family" vehicle in the fleet. It's currently a gas guzzling 2001 Isuzu Rodeo that averages about 15 mpg (it's a 5,000 pound vehicle with automatic 4WD instead of manual hubs, so the drivetrain is always spinning the from half axles), so more than doubling the fuel economy would offset quite a bit of loan payment for a newer vehicle.
